HERE’S AN E-MAIL I AGREE WITH

February 29, 2008

I receive a lot of E-mail from my wife’s cousin’s husband, and here is one that Hillary needs to read.  Now if this guy would just write one like it for Obama, I would be happy.

Aspen Times columnist Gary Hubbell wrote an excellent article, which is copied below so I can properly rant.

In election 2008, don’t forget Angry White Man
Gary Hubbell February 9, 2008

There is a great amount of interest in this year’s presidential elections, as everybody seems to recognize that our next president has to be a lot better than George Bush. The Democrats are riding high with two groundbreaking candidates – a woman and an African-American – while the conservative Republicans are in a quandary about their party’s nod to a quasi-liberal maverick, John McCain.

Each candidate is carefully pandering to a smorgasbord of special-interest groups, ranging from gay, lesbian and transgender people to children of illegal immigrants to working mothers to evangelical Christians.

There is one group no one has recognized, and it is the group that will decide the election: the Angry White Man. The Angry White Man comes from all economic backgrounds, from dirt-poor to filthy rich. He represents all geographic areas in America, from urban sophisticate to rural redneck, deep South to mountain West, left Coast to Eastern Seaboard.

His common traits are that he isn’t looking for anything from anyone – just the promise to be able to make his own way on a level playing field. In many cases, he is an independent businessman and employs several people. He pays more than his share of taxes and works hard.

The victimhood syndrome buzzwords – “disenfranchised,” “marginalized and “voiceless” – don’t resonate with him. “Press ‘one’ for English” is a curse-word to him. He’s used to picking up the tab, whether it’s the company Christmas party, three sets of braces, three college educations or a beautiful wedding.

He believes the Constitution is to be interpreted literally, not as a “living document” open to the whims and vagaries of a panel of judges who have never worked an honest day in their lives.

The Angry White Man owns firearms, and he’s willing to pick up a gun to defend his home and his country. He is willing to lay down his life to defend the freedom and safety of others, and the thought of killing someone who needs killing really doesn’t bother him.

The Angry White Man is not a metrosexual, a homosexual or a victim. Nobody like him drowned in Hurricane Katrina – he got his people together and got the hell out, then went back in to rescue those too helpless and stupid to help themselves, often as a police officer, a National Guard soldier or a volunteer firefighter.

His last name and religion don’t matter. His background might be Italian, English, Polish, German, Slavic, Irish, or Russian, and he might have Cherokee, Mexican, or Puerto Rican mixed in, but he considers himself a white American.

He’s a man’s man, the kind of guy who likes to play poker, watch football, hunt white-tailed deer, call turkeys, play golf, spend a few bucks at a strip club once in a blue moon, change his own oil and build things. He coaches baseball, soccer and football teams and doesn’t ask for a penny. He’s the kind of guy who can put an addition on his house with a couple of friends, drill an oil well, weld a new bumper for his truck, design a factory and publish books. He can fill a train with 100,000 tons of coal and get it to the power plant on time so that you keep the lights on and never know what it took to flip that light switch.

Women either love him or hate him, but they know he’s a man, not a dishrag. If they’re looking for someone to walk all over, they’ve got the wrong guy. He stands up straight, opens doors for women and says “Yes, sir” and “No, ma’am.”

He might be a Republican and he might be a Democrat; he might be a Libertarian or a Green. He knows that his wife is more emotional than rational, and he guides the family in a rational manner.

He’s not a racist, but he is annoyed and disappointed when people of certain backgrounds exhibit behavior that typifies the worst stereotypes of their race. He’s willing to give everybody a fair chance if they work hard, play by the rules and learn English.

Most important, the Angry White Man is pissed off. When his job site becomes flooded with illegal workers who” don’t pay taxes and his wages drop like a stone, he gets righteously angry. When his job gets shipped overseas, and he has to speak to some incomprehensible idiot in India for tech support, he simmers. When Al Sharpton comes on TV, leading some rally for reparations for slavery or some such nonsense, he bites his tongue and he remembers. When a child gets charged with carrying a concealed weapon for mistakenly bringing a penknife to school, he takes note of who the local idiots are in education and law enforcement.

He also votes, and the Angry White Man loathes Hillary Clinton. Her voice reminds him of a shovel scraping a rock. He recoils at the mere sight of her on television. Her very image disgusts him, and he cannot fathom why anyone would want her as their leader. It’s not that she is a woman. It’s that she is who she is. It’s the liberal victim groups she panders to, the “poor me” attitude that she represents, her inability to give a straight answer to an honest question, his tax dollars that she wants to give to people who refuse to do anything for themselves.

There are many millions of Angry White Men. Four million Angry White Men are members of the National Rifle Association, and all of them will vote against Hillary Clinton, just as the great majority of them voted for George Bush.

He hopes that she will be the Democratic nominee for president in 2008, and he will make sure that she gets beaten like a drum.

Interesting response from the editors at the Aspen Times Weekly on the above article. Seems a (BIG) flurry of emails, comments, phone calls and letters were sent in response and the editors chose to put a few of the diverse opinions on a page apty titled Angry White Man letters. Here’s the enticing intro:

Editor’s note: In the Feb. 10 edition of the Aspen Times Weekly, columnist Gary Hubbell, our own Redneck Tree-Hugger, wrote an opinion titled “In election 2008, don’t forget Angry White Man” that has since become something of a phenomenon.Hubbell’s piece has made the rounds on the Internet, chiefly among conservative white males, and eventually landed on radio shows hosted by Neal Boortz, Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh. Needless to say, the column also generated a lot of activity at the newspaper: More than 1 million hits on our website, some 800 e-comments on the column, hundreds of phone calls to the newspaper’s beleaguered front office, and hundreds of letters to the editor. The vast majority of these communications were favorable, but some thought Hubbell’s column was bitter, bigoted and/or misogynistic. Below is a representative, if small, sample from the hundreds of letters.

If you go to the above site you will get the whole page on the left – you need to click on editorials or GO HERE to read his column.  He is developing a following all over the county – people like me are forwarding it around.  The only  problem that most say is, they are upset because of the “White Man” connotation.  They are saying Native Americans, African Americans and Women should have been included in the article.

My reply to this article is it sure hits home for me and spells my feelings exactly.  I have sympathy for the poor and under paid, but since when did it become the average working  mans responsibility to support them?  Myself and others have fought, worked and struggled to raise, support, clothe, house, feed and provide medical coverage for our familys all of our working lives.  Now the Speaker of the House, Old Nancy Bit**, wants to further tap into our Social Security and add a tax onto our retirement accounts, 401k’s and such to “equal out the lives of the poor and illegal”?!? Does she know what Illegal means?  These people want to spend american tax dollars like it is theirs.  That is not her money it is our’s.  When is this crap going to stop?  Please go back a chapter or two and watch the video “Gumball Immigration” (need to fix link).  My shoulders are stooped from serving in our military and working for 45 years, I cannot shoulder this burden we are facing..

OK enough of a rant.  I’ll sit back and wait for the flack to fall.

The Right To Leave A ramble

December 4, 2007

You know I don’t really consider my self deeply prejudiced, but some things cause me to wonder.  Recently the government released a warning about possible terrorist attacks at malls during the holiday season.  Where upon the Los Angeles Police dept announced plans to monitor some of the Muslim Tempels in the area.  A huge outcry from the Muslim community caused them to back down.

Add this to the recent immigration marches by illegal immigrants demanding rights they do not have kinda makes me wonder about the future of our country.  The values we formed our society upon is under attract from people who came here for the freedom and and quality of life we have because they want to change it to conform to their beliefs.  The following is a E-mail I received recently, and sums up my feelings on this issue.

From an email received on 12/2/07 comes this text:

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation’s mosques. Quote: ‘IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.’

‘This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom’

‘We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!’

‘Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.’

‘We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.’

‘This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,

‘THE RIGHT TO LEAVE’.’

[Too bad he can’t run for President here,

oh hell I forgot he is a ainti-gunner,

let him stay where he is!]

‘If you aren’t happy here then LEAVE. We didn’t force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.’

Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves, American citizens will find the backbone to start speaking and voicing the same truths.

As far as I am concerned all the various groups who do not want to live as Americans and accept our way of life can pack their bags and get — and take the ACLU with them.  Also the weak-kneed politicians who will not defend our values and laws can join them.

gonna quit before I get in too deep,

but do not apologize for my feelings!

Well I Guess I’m Disturbed

April 13, 2007

No I know for sure I am disturbed.  I received a E-mail forwarded on my my oldest son yesterday.  It was a series of color photos taken of a large group of students at  a local high school, located in Montelbello, Ca..  In the pictures they were shown  attaching a Mexican flag to the pole on the front lawn of the school.  What is is even more disturbing is they then attached the American Flag upside-down below it and raised them to the top of the pole in front of a large cheering mob.

Now what bothers me are these few thoughts.  Where were the adult teachers and administrators while this was going on?  Do they not know there are laws governing this type of action?  On American soil no flag is allowed to fly superior to the American Flag.  The American Flag does not fly upside-down in any instance other sever distress.  This was clearly not a act of freedom of speech but a act of civil disobedience and contempt.  Are the teachers so frightened of their students that they will allow them to act in such a manner?  Or did they agree with their feelings?

I bothers me greatly that our country has allowed the act of illegal immigration to get so far out of hand that we now can seemly not have any control over it.  How can our President stand on a platform with a leader of another nation and listen to them lambaste him and our country about the issue and demand, DEMAND, we grant their citizens entry and citizenship for illegal behavor.

I will not rehash the things I find distastefull about this whole illigal immigrant mess again, you can go back and read the earlier soap box tirades, I have not changed my mind any at all. (more…)
