According to my Mom, Brushy Bill claimed he escaped because he had small wrists and the handcuffs slipped off. My mom wasn’t convinced & she was just a child. In fact she just thought he was crazy.

Sorry, I wasn’t implying you belived it. Was just comparing the theroy to all the Elvis sightings, you used to hear about. A attempt at humor, a weakness of mine.

I didn’t say I believed the theory. According to my mom who had several encounters with Brushy Bill the guy was just crazy.

Well I know that at least two individuals came foreward claiming to be Billy, The Kid. Brushy Bill Roberts claimed to be Billy, The Kid, This individual was largely uneducated but new a incretable amount about the Linclon County War, astounding even he so called experts, but could not provide any conclusive proof of his claim. A pair, C.L. Sonnichsen and Waiilam V. Morrison wrote a well researched book “ALIAS bILLY, THE KID in which they point out several inconsistencies in the records, and they tell the story of Brushy Bill.
However Pat Garret and all involved would have been putting their reputations on the line to particapate in such a deception. And could we belive the vivatious charcater of Billy, The Kid to have remained under raps for so long a time? I for one doubt it, do you think Elvis is still alive?

What do you think about the theory that Billy the Kid was not shot by Pat Garrett but escaped. Supposedly he lived out the remainder of his days in Central Texas.
